Jacques Tardi (French, born 1946)
Drawn on scratchboard to recall the engravings in Jules Verne's novels, this early Arctic adventure came just before Tardi's Adèle Blanc-Sec. He won Angoulême's Grand Prix in 1985 and refused the Légion d'honneur in 2013.
