A plum tree, among the first to bloom in the cold, flowers against a hot pink sky while its roots grip a mound of skulls, and pale figures bound in gold cord hang from its branches. Aoshima, self-taught and an early member of Takashi Murakami's Kaikai Kiki, began making her worlds in Adobe Illustrator.
